Serafina Finnegan writes moving, lyrical picture books which respect the complex inner lives of children. Her stories are filled with craggy mountains, snowy journeys, and castles made of moonlight. Her characters learn the power of cultural storytelling, the importance of generational memories, and find strengths they didn’t know they had. Serafina also enjoys writing silly humor which gets kids giggling and has a talent for rhyme. Serafina is a 2024 PB Party finalist, a 2023 mentee of the Rutgers University Council on Children’s Literature, and a two-time winner of the Raynor Wallace Award for Poetry. Her latest manuscript, The Storyteller, was shortlisted for Searchlight Awards ’Best Picture Book Text of 2024. Before writing for children, Serafina wrote for Power & Motoryacht magazine and the Journal of Empirical Research on Human Research Ethics
A New York native, Serafina now writes and dreams in Florida. When not writing, Serafina is a very tired parent to three book-hungry little boys.
