Marilena’s work brings the charm of 60’s and 70’s process printing into the digital world and gives it a fresh, new spin. What great energy it has! Her art is also inspired from watching colorfully painted subway cars on the elevated tracks as a little girl growing up in NYC.
Marilena prefers to work digitally, leaning into the textured and painterly qualities of gouache while utilizing limited color palettes. She has worked extensively in children's publishing and within editorial, educational, licensing, advertising, and television. Clients include The New York Times, Boston Globe, Simon and Schuster, Scholastic, Penguin Books, American Girl Publishing, Random House and Nickelodeon to name a few.
Marilena Perilli happily resides in West Chester, NY with her FDNY husband and two teenage boys. Her love language is cooking and she loves to recreate dishes from her 1st generation Italian-American upbringing.
