Hemapriya Chellappan is an Indian illustrator who has been drawing ever since she could hold a pencil. As a child, she loved sketching things around her and vividly remembers the cemetery near her small-town home, imagining ghosts and creating stories with her brother. Today, she brings the same touch of whimsy and wonder into her illustrations.
Her work is vibrant, textured, and full of character, whether she’s navigating folktales, picture books, or imaginative scenes. Above all, she hopes her work brings joy, comfort, and a sense of discovery to young readers.
When not working, Hemapriya can be found with a pair of binoculars, exploring the lengths of the Western Ghats with her husband, often trailed by a pack of clueless dogs.
