George Sweetland is a freelance illustrator who loves picture books and the 80's. When he isn’t illustrating or teaching elementary school students, he's having dance parties and watching movies with his wife, two sons, and their energetic goldendoodle in their home in Connecticut.
George works digitally and enjoys incorporating various textures into his artwork. He loves drawing everyday moments but has a sweet spot for Halloween and fantastical creatures that include dragons, unicorns, and of course monsters. Recent clients include Flamingo Books (PRH) and Gemini Children's Books.
Praise for Marianne the Maker (PRH, 2025):
"True to Marianne’s creative nature, Sweetland surrounds her with lots of clutter and scraps, as well as plenty of bits and bobs. One never knows where inspiration will strike next." (Kirkus)
Praise for I'm Dreaming of a Pink Christmas (Gemeni Books, 2025)
"Colorful illustrations depict the magic of the holiday season with whimsical details, such as pink-ified Santa’s plaid coat with unicorn accents." (Foreward Book Reviews)
